Abstract

En este trabajo se estudian las ideas que presentó Albert O. Hirschman sobre el temade los desequilibrios económicos regionales en sus diferentes ensayos y libros. Comoes un pensador que ha estado dispuesto siempre a traspasar las barrerasdisciplinarias, sus aportes en este campo tuvieron en cuenta aspectos económicos,políticos, antropológicos e históricos. Por esa razón, hemos dividido este ensayo en susdiscusiones del problema de los rezagos regionales usando esas divisiones de lasdisciplinas mencionadas. Al final, se presentan unas conclusiones acerca de lasrelaciones de los aportes de Hirschman al problema de los desequilibrios regionales ysu relación con los trabajos recientes que son pertinentes para el estudio de estefenómeno, tales como los de Paul Krugman, Douglass North y Acemoglu y susasociados.
