Abstract

The age-specific fertility rate of women with 15-19 years old (f1) showed a decline between Brazilian’s census of 2000 and 2010, for the first time since the inclusion of the information of children born alive in the last 12 months. This decline was expressive, being around 30% for the whole country. However, this phenomenon tends to overestimate the P2/F2 in Brass ratio method, which would then result in an overestimated level correction factor for the Total Fertility Rate. That is because the decline generates an error in the fertility rate accumulated until de age group 20-24 years old (F2). Therefore, our aim is to present the fertility estimations to Brazil, Regions, and States, using the propose from Carvalho, Gonçalves and Silva (2016). We used the Brazilian census (2010).
