An Evaluation of CBO’s Projections of Outlays From 1984 to 2021

Abstract

CBO has regularly published baseline projections of federal outlays. Those projections encompass the current year and a projection period of 5 or 10 years in the future. In this report, CBO assesses the quality of the baseline projections of outlays it has made each spring from 1984 to 2021.
