La infraestructura del transporte vial y la movilización de carga en Colombia

Abstract

Como se ha demostrado en varios estudios, la infraestructura de transporte, y en especial las carreteras son de significativa importancia en el crecimiento y desarrollo de un país. El presente documento quiere llamar la atención sobre la infraestructura vial y su importancia en la movilización de carga en Colombia toda vez que el 80% de la carga del país se moviliza por carretera. Los resultados muestran una red vial limitada y de poca capacidad, aún si se compara con otros países latinoamericanos en vía de desarrollo. En cuanto a la movilización de carga, la antigüedad de los vehículos y su poca capacidad de carga hace que los costos de transporte se mantengan altos, afectando la competitividad de los bienes transportados.
