Inclusion financiera y el papel de la banca movil en Colombia. Desarrollos y potencialidades

Abstract

En Colombia la profundizacion financiera es baja. En este contexto, en los ultimos anos se han desarrollado diferentes esfuerzos tanto por parte de los gobiernos y el sector privado para fomentar el despegue de modelos que permitan un mayor acceso a los servicios financieros. Estos esquemas de inclusion financiera, basados en la generacion de canales de acceso que reduzcan los altos costos de transaccion para los agentes, han venido construyendose tomando como base la alta cobertura alcanzada por la telefonia celular, el desarrollo gradual de los CB y modificaciones regulatorias, lo que ha permitido un acceso mas facil a los servicios financieros. Teniendo ello en cuenta, el presente trabajo persigue dos objetivos: por un lado, recoger el analisis de las recientes experiencias en el campo regulatorio de la banca movil para Colombia y por el otro, explorar las potencialidades de un mayor desarrollo de estos esquemas. A partir del analisis de microdatos para Colombia, el trabajo confirma el avance paulatino que se viene dando en el pais y se identifica las enormes posibilidades para potenciar una mayor inclusion financiera.
