Costa Rica On the Path Toward Inflation Targeting

Abstract

This document aims to provide an overview of the economic context in which that decision was taken, by reviewing the main developments and changes that, as of June 2012, had been implemented with a view to adopting an inflation-targeting monetary framework in Costa Rica. It also identifies some pending or incomplete tasks in this process. ***Resumen: El presente documento tiene como objetivo brindar un panorama del contexto económico en el que se tomó esa decisión, haciendo un recuento de los principales hechos y modificaciones que a junio del 2012 se han realizado con miras a la adopción de un esquema monetario de meta de inflación en Costa Rica. De igual forma se señalan algunas tareas pendientes o incompletas en este proceso.
