Uma análisedos efeitos da segregação racial sobre aproficiência dos alunos do ensino fundamental brasileiro

Abstract

Pesquisas recentes vêm encontrando que alunos da raça negra têm pior desempenho escolar que alunos da raça branca em testes cognitivos padronizados. Segregação racial é freqüentemente apontada na literatura internacional como uma das principais responsáveis por essa diferença. Nós analisamos os efeitos da segregação racial escolar no diferencial de desempenho entre brancos e negros no Brasil. Nos modelos estimados, mesmo após a utilização de diversos grupos de variáveis de controle, encontramos que onde há maior segregação escolar entre brancos e negros, o diferencial de desempenho contra os alunos negros é maior.
