Abstract

This is a report by the Bureau of Agricultural Engineering, United States Department of Agriculture, describing the results of a survey made in the Grand Prairie rice-growing region of Arkansas during the Summer of 1934 for the Farm Credit Administration, and setting forth the conclusions of the party which made it. The investigation had to do, in general, with circumstances then existing in the Grand Prairie as they appeared to affect the security represented by the rice farms for Federal Farm Loans. In particular, it dealt with the status of the water supply, upon which the profitable growing of rice is dependent to a degree much greater than that represented by any other physical influence.
