An Ecological Land Classification Framework for the United States

Abstract

The ecological land classification framework described consists of hierarchical classifications of vegetation and soil; a method of linking a wetlands and deep water habitat classification system to upland vegetation and soil hierarchies; landform definitions used to describe the setting for the soil, vegetation, and wetlands elements; and procedures for integrating the elements into ecological units.
