Análise dos fatores que afetam o desempenho escolar nas escolas das áreas urbanas e rurais do Brasil

Abstract

O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar os fatores que afetam o desempenho escolar, comparando alunos de escolas localizadas em áreas urbanas com os que estudam em localidades rurais. Utilizando o método de mínimos quadrados e os microdados do Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Básica (SAEB) de 2003, que possui informações de testes padrões de Língua Portuguesa e de Matemática para alunos da 4ª série do fundamental, concluiu-se que dentre as variáveis mais significativas na determinação do desempenho dos estudantes das áreas urbanas estavam a escolaridade da mãe, a renda familiar, a rede de ensino, o atraso escolar e o trabalho infantil. Já no meio rural, foi mais significativo para o desempenho dos alunos a rede de ensino pública, a renda familiar, a região onde a escola se localiza, a oferta de recursos educacionais (computadores, biblioteca, etc), o número de pessoas no domicílio, o fato de o aluno gostar de estudar as disciplinas e o atraso escolar. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The objective of this study was to evaluate the factors that affect performance school, comparing students from schools located in urban areas with those studying in rural localities. Using the method of least squares and microdata System National Assessment of Basic Education (SAEB) 2003, which has information patterns of Portuguese Language and Mathematics for students from 4th grade fundamental concluded that among the most significant variables in determining the performance of students from urban areas were mother's education, family income, the network education, school delay and child labor. Already in rural areas was more significant for performance of students in public school system, family income, the region where the school is located, offering educational resources (computers, library, etc.), the number of people at home, the fact that students like to study disciplines and educational backwardness.
