Vantagens Comparativas Reveladas E Orientacao Regional Da Soja Brasileira Frente A Uniao Europeia E Ao Foro De Cooperacao Economica Na Asia E No Pacifico (1992-2004)

Abstract

O trabalho tem como objetivo verificar a competitividade da soja brasileira frente à União Européia e ao Foro de Cooperação Econômica na Ásia e no Pacífico (APEC). Para tanto, faz-se uso dos Índices de Vantagens Comparativas Reveladas (IVCR) e do Índice de Orientação Regional (IOR). Os resultados mostram que o Brasil vem apresentando Vantagens Comparativas Reveladas no período analisado, e estas foram crescentes, à exceção de 1995, 1996, 1999 e 2003. As causas para estas quedas podem estar relacionadas à sobrevalorização cambial do período de 1995-1998 e variações nas exportações mundiais e brasileiras de soja. O resultado do IOR, para a União Européia, indica que as exportações estão orientadas para o bloco, embora esse índice venha caindo ao longo do período analisado, as exportações de soja para o bloco vêm aumentando. Isso indica que as exportações de soja, para outros mercados, estão crescendo proporcionalmente mais do que para a União Européia. Já o IOR para a APEC indicou que as exportações estão orientadas extra-APEC, embora países como a China e o Japão, que são membros do bloco, sejam hoje grandes importadores da soja brasileira
