La carrera del maestro en el Perú: factores institucionales, incentivos económicos y desempeño

Abstract

En este estudio se construyen indicadores de desempeño a partir de las propias percepciones de los maestros acerca de su rendimiento, de sus posibilidades de tomar decisiones y de tener un efecto sobre el desempeño de los alumnos. Estos indicadores no miden el desempeño propiamente dicho, sino más bien intentan medir determinadas actitudes que usualmente se asocian con un mejor desempeño en el aula. Se encuentra que, controlando por las características de los maestros y de los alumnos, los maestros de escuelas privadas tienen una mejor percepción de su propio desempeño. Las diferencias en favor de los docentes privados pueden estar reflejando diferencias organizacionales entre ambos tipos de escuelas y diferencias en la estructura de estímulos y de incentivos.
