Índice de la Economía del Conocimiento Provincial (IECP): un análisis comparativo entre las provincias argentinas

Abstract

El presente trabajo centra su atención en medir un concepto que ha adquirido un rol prominente en el crecimiento y desarrollo económico de las regiones: la Economía basada en el Conocimiento. Actualmente, a nivel nacional y subnacional se observa un interés permanente en promover el conocimiento como conducto hacia un mayor desarrollo de largo plazo. Sin embargo, no se encuentra en la literatura argentina estudios que evalúen de manera cuantitativa el estado alcanzado a nivel provincial. En base al análisis y combinación de metodologías internacionales sobre índices de conocimiento, y en función de la información disponible en el país, este trabajo estima un índice de la Economía del Conocimiento (IECP) para cada una de las provincias argentinas. A su vez, se lleva a cabo un análisis de clustering que permite identificar tres conglomerados o estadios bien heterogéneos: las jurisdicciones más avanzadas, integradas por CABA, Córdoba y Santa Fe; las intermedias, que pertenecen a las regiones Patagónica, Pampeana y Cuyo; y, por último, las más rezagadas, compuestas principalmente por el NOA y NEA. Dichos datos reflejan de algún modo la relación existente entre el nivel de conocimiento de una sociedad y el grado de desarrollo económico de la misma.
