Unequal mobilities, network capital and mobility justice

Abstract

In this chapter, we continue our investigation of the gap between realised and unrealised mobility. After focusing on individual mobility needs and preferences in the previous chapter, we now turn to examining notions of unequal mobilities and mobility justice beyond the distribution of accessibility levels. Therefore, in this chapter, we try to understand mobility poverty from a systemic and structural perspective. Two different approaches to unequal mobilities will be outlined here: first, the question of mobility justice will be discussed and, second, unequal mobilities in times of the networked society. This chapter concludes with final remarks on practical and policy implications.
