Abstract

Migration kann nicht ohne die Differenzierung von Räumen und Orten gedacht werden. Die Art und Weise, wie in Migrationsforschung sowie in Migrations- und Integrationspolitiken Räume gedacht und gemacht werden, ist bislang allerdings nur sehr vereinzelt reflektiert worden. Ausgehend von der Annahme, dass eine solche Reflektion wissenschaftlich fruchtbar und politisch sinnvoll ist, systematisiert und diskutiert der Artikel zentrale Konzeptualisierungen von Räumen und Orten in der interdisziplinären Migrationsforschung und arbeitet ihre jeweiligen Stärken und Schwächen heraus. Ziel des Beitrages ist es, ein Verständnis für die grundsätzliche Kontingenz und Pluralität von Räumen der Migration zu vermitteln und auf diese Weise Grundlagen zu schaffen für eine (selbst-)kritische Weiterentwicklung sowohl der Migrationsforschung als auch des politisch-administrativen Umgangs mit Migration.
