Abstract

Der grenzüberschreitende Arbeits- und Ausbildungsmarkt in der Region SaarLorLux war jahrzehntelang vor allem von wachsenden Grenzpendler:innenzahlen geprägt. Die Covid-19-Pandemie als schockartige Krise und der demographische Wandel als strukturelle Krise bringen nun zunehmend negative Aspekte der starken grenzüberschreitenden Verflechtungen hervor. Die Mitgliedsregionen stehen vor ähnlichen Herausforderungen und leiden unter Arbeitskräfte- und Fachkräftemangel, der zu einem grenzüberschreitenden Wettbewerb um Bewerber:innen führt. Dieser Beitrag untersucht zum einen, welche Interessen und Strategien die Mitgliedsregionen angesichts dieser Situation verfolgen. Zum anderen analysiert er, ob bzw. welche Lösungsansätze für die Großregion vorliegen, welche Rolle die Erfahrungen der Pandemie dabei spielen und ob die diskutierten Ideen umsetzbar erscheinen.
