Abstract

Dass mit der Covid-19-Pandemie Grenzkontrollen zwischen Deutschland und den meisten seiner Nachbarländer eingeführt wurden, hinterließ Sebastian Gröning-von Thüna zunächst ebenso fassungslos wie viele andere überzeugte Europäerinnen und Europäer. Im Laufe der Pandemie erlebte er jedoch von Nahem, wie für den deutsch-französischen Grenzraum recht schnell angepasste Umgangsformen und Maßnahmen erarbeitet wurden. Eine von der Präfektin der région Grand Est organisierte Telefon- bzw. Videoschalte sowie der politische Dialog im Ausschuss für Grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit (AGZ) waren für die ebenen- und grenzübergreifende Kommunikation von zentraler Bedeutung. Aus dem Schock der Pandemie wurde somit eine Chance, mit neuem Elan bestehende Hürden des Grenzüberschreitenden abzubauen.
