Abstract

Raumunternehmen nutzen brachliegende Immobilien, die aus den herkömmlichen Verwertungszyklen gefallen sind, um ihre eigenen Ideen umzusetzen. Bei dieser nutzerbasierten Stadtentwicklung steht nicht die Renditeerwartung, sondern die Realisierung ihrer Visionen von lebenswerter Stadt und Gemeinschaft im Vordergrund. Ausgehend von einem umfassenden Verständnis von Partizipation können solche informellen Raumaneignungen durch zivilgesellschaftliche Gruppen als eine neue Beteiligungsform verstanden werden. Im klassischen Verständnis der Beteiligung werden die Bürger "aktiviert", um an vorstrukturierten Planungsprozessen teilzuhaben. Raumunternehmen hingegen werden selbst aktiv, um lokal wahrgenommene Probleme zu beheben. Der Beitrag beleuchtet diese neue Beteiligungsform und diskutiert die positiven Effekte auf das Umfeld sowie mögliche Impulse für die Stadtentwicklungspraxis.
