Abstract

This research analyzes the transformation of business processes, focusing on methods such as optimization and streamlining. It demonstrates that these methods differ fundamentally and establishes the criteria for selecting between them. The authors provide examples and practical recommendations. The research employs methods of systems analysis. It is intended for practitioners, students, and graduate students of economics, offering a deeper and more structured understanding of the practical necessity and methodology behind the primary approaches to business process transformation. The introduction formulates the research hypothesis, objectives, and tasks. It also discusses the features, potential risks, and limitations associated with applying these methods. Additionally, the authors identify the key success factors essential for the effective implementation of changes. Particular attention is given to the relationship between these approaches and the digital transformation of organizations. The authors show that digitalization is a systemic process where changes in certain business processes can have unexpected (emergent) impacts on others, making this interconnection a central mechanism for implementing simplifications. The special role of streamlining business processes to enhance organizational efficiency within reengineering initiatives is highlighted. This research is a foundation for further work on change management and process improvement.
