Abstract

After completing this chapter, students will be able to:Apply rules of integration to find specific integrals.Recognize the circumstances under which the basic rules of integration cannot be applied, and where the substitution rule or integration by parts may be more suitable.Understand the concept of a definite integral and its properties.Evaluate improper integrals, including those with infinite limits of integration and those with infinite integrands. In the static models of Chapters 5 and 6, our goal was to maximize or minimize an objective function subject to one or more constraints. The first-order conditions characterized the optimal solution and served as equilibrium conditions. In this chapter, we will develop additional tools of economic analysis before shifting our focus to solving various differential equations. In dynamic analysis, we will study the time paths of variables and determine whether, given sufficient time, they converge to particular values…
