Abstract

Regional development opportunities depend on people and their potential. Highly organized and active people can participate in the development of their territory. Youth are the source of socio-economic, cultural, and demographic potential of territorial development. The value orientations of youth are resources that can determine the nature of their involvement in implementing innovative and socio-economic projects in the region. The values of youth influence their attitude toward these projects and form their willingness to participate in them to increase the level of regional development. Under the influence of globalization (economic, cultural, and information), associated with transformation processes, there is a cultural shift in public life at collective and individual levels, changing people’s values, especially youth’s values. The research aims to analyze the basic values of youth in Russian regions in the context of globalization. The novelty of this work lies in the analysis of youth values considering regional development and globalization. Theoretical analysis and a legal approach made it possible to identify the role of youth in developing regions and develop an author’s structural model of youth potential in the region’s development. The materials of the author’s sociological research and secondary analysis revealed the core of the basic values of youth: family, material prosperity, health, and work.
