Abstract

This research identifies industry links with sustainable development goals in the dairy industry, considers the best practices of other countries, and explores the possibilities of managing the sustainable development of the dairy industry in Russia. The analysis of key developmental indicators in the dairy industry of Russia over the past thirty years provides a statistical foundation for strategic planning to ensure the industry’s sustainable development from 2030 to 2050. The analyzed indicators, including livestock numbers, milk production and consumption, sales, imports, and exports, offer a comprehensive statistical overview of the milk production process in the Russian Federation. Additionally, the indexed representation of production, along with a comparative analysis against recommended consumption standards, provides valuable insights for long-term planning. The authors considered approaches and methods for determining future directions for the development of the dairy industry as integral components of the statistical mechanisms used for their monitoring. The authors identified key directions for the sustainable development of Russia’s dairy industry, focusing on expanding the resource base and improving management systems at all levels. Harmonization, standardization, statistical comparability, and digitalization are seen as crucial opportunities for achieving these goals.
