Abstract

This research emphasizes the urgency of the issues related to the environmental agenda among the scientific community. The studies of the ecological culture of the population show that its level is not high enough among most social groups. Particular attention is paid to the youth because their environmental values allow the future generation of citizens to successfully participate in the country’s development. As part of this work, the authors consider ESG principles in the environmental education of youth. The research emphasizes that environmental practices within educational settings significantly enhance young people’s ecological awareness, fostering environmental values that they carry into their daily lives. In Russia, numerous effective projects and initiatives are dedicated to the environmental education of youth. However, there are some challenges. Although young people understand sustainable development principles and ESG, they often struggle to relate these concepts to specific terminology, which can hinder their integration into professional tasks. Additionally, when seeking employment, youth who prioritize ESG principles tend to focus more on social and labor rights while paying less attention to environmental protection issues. To eliminate this misbalance, they suggest enhancing social partnerships between higher educational institutions, businesses, and the state in terms of environmental responsibility.
