Abstract

The authors emphasize that one of the tasks of sustainable development in Russia is environmental education, which will make it possible to reduce the gap between state strategies and the population’s consciousness. Environmental education is most actively promoted among young people, especially students. Nowadays, the educational process aims to develop in young people certain skills necessary for successful entry into the labor market. The research suggests that students’ socio-ecological competencies are universal skills that are most effectively developed through participation in project activities. The authors propose conducting a student-led questionnaire survey to identify the environmental values of young people as one option for these projects. Such a project is expected to enable students to engage not only with the theoretical foundations of environmental culture but also to analyze prevailing opinions among young people about environmental issues. This, in turn, could lead to recommendations for the sustainable development of society.
