Abstract

This chapter builds on the foundations established in earlier chapters, integrating feedback from the 2nd Expert Team to validate and enhance the framework’s practical applicability and theoretical rigor. Through structured workshops and in-depth analysis, the team evaluated the first version of the Bitcoin Audit Framework (BTC_AF) against key verification and validation statements, assessing its alignment with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and its ability to address the unique complexities of auditing bitcoin-related digital asset balances and transactions. Although key refinements were introduced to improve the framework’s functionality, insights from practitioners that did not require structural changes were recorded for discussion in later chapters. The iterative nature of this stage reinforces the importance of learning and adaptation in artifact development. The BTC_AFv1 was further assessed against key design science criteria, confirming its value as a theoretically grounded, practically applicable audit tool. The chapter concludes by positioning BTC_AFv2 as a validated artifact capable of supporting auditors in navigating the audit challenges posed by blockchain technologies, with its real-world implementation to follow in the next phase.
