Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Mathematik werden Besonderheiten zugeschrieben, die sie von anderen Wissenschaften wesentlich unterscheiden. Wenn manche Autoren hier nur graduelle Unterschiede sehen, so bleiben doch unbestritten die absolute Wahrheit und Exaktheit mathematischer Sätze oder deren Zeitlosigkeit und Universalität. In großen Teilen der Philosophie der Mathematik werden diese Phänomene durch den Hinweis auf die Qualität mathematischer Objekte zu erklären versucht, was aber zu Widersprüchen führt. Erst durch den Verzicht auf ontologische Erklärungen bei Wittgenstein wird eine nüchterne Klärung ohne metaphysische Hilfen möglich. Zentral dafür ist die Sichtweise mathematischer Sätze und Formeln als Regeln.
