Abstract

My first encounter with Gabriele Kaiser was by email. I had submitted a paper to ZDM-Mathematics Education on a new idea that a colleague and I were working on—engaging pre-service teachers in video analysis to learn from teaching, that is to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that are necessary to be life-long learners and continue to improve one’s teaching over time. The reviewers and Gabriele agreed that it was a terrible draft, which it was! But as the Editor in Chief of the journal, Gabriele gave us a second chance and let us revise the paper, which was eventually published in a 2011 issue on Creating and Using Representations of Mathematics Teaching in Research and Teacher Development, co-edited by Patricio Herbst and Daniel Chazan.
