Abstract

Zusammenfassung Elektronische Wahlen, also demokratische Wahlen mit dem Einsatz elektronischer Medien wie Wahlcomputer oder Internet sind seit Beginn der 1990er Jahre Thema von Forschung und Diskussion. Während in einigen europäischen Ländern bereits Elektronische Wahlen für politische Wahlen eingesetzt werden, gibt es in anderen Ländern großen Widerstand und Bedenken. So hat das Bundesverfassungsgericht 2009 einen Leitsatz formuliert, der Elektronische Wahlen im Prinzip für Bundestagswahlen ausschließt. Sind Elektronische Wahlen dennoch „sicher”? Was müssen die Wahlberechtigten über Elektronische Wahlsysteme wissen und in welcher Tiefe müssen sie die Systeme verstehen? In diesem Artikel geht es um eine kurze Gegenüberstellung von Urnenwahlen und Elektronischen Wahlen, Einsatzmöglichkeiten Elektronischer Wahlen und die Bedeutung Elektronischer Wahlen für die Gesellschaft und den Unterricht.
