Abstract

Zusammenfassung In seinem Aufsatz „Rechnen oder Rechnen lassen? Mathematik(unterricht) als Bürgerrecht und Bürgerpflicht“ behandelt Andreas Vohns den ‚Gegenstand‘ Mathematik und Gesellschaft aus didaktischer Perspektive. Er akzentuiert diesen Gegenstand im Hinblick auf das ‚Thema‘ Aufklärung in öffentlichen Angelegenheiten durch und gegenüber Mathematik. Ziel und Zweck dieser Aufklärung ist die ‚Urteilsfähigkeit des Staatsbürgers‘, und zwar seine ‚Urteilsfähigkeit in Sachen des öffentlichen Lebens‘. Dieser Fokus auf die Urteilsfähigkeit des Staatsbürgers in Sachen des öffentlichen Lebens ist des Autors methodischer Kniff, um sich „qualifiziert und abgrenzbar zum Thema des Bandes äußern zu können [... ohne] zu sehr in Allgemeinplätze abzugleiten“ (Vohns, in diesem Band S. 204).
