Abstract

Zusammenfassung Es entspricht der allgemeinen Wahrnehmung und empirische Studien bestätigen es, dass in der Gesellschaft ein unscharfes, oft reduziertes und einseitiges Bild von Mathematik vorherrschend ist. Persönliche Befindlichkeiten, die sich im Mathematikunterricht einstellen und durch das Fach und die Art seiner Präsentation ausgelöst werden, bewegen sich zwischen gegensätzlichen Polen – traumatisch besetzter Angstabwehr auf der einen und idealisierender Wertschätzung auf der anderen Seite – mit vielen Zwischenabstufungen. Der Beitrag konstruiert idealtypisch mögliche Facetten von Personen, denen es in der Schule sehr unterschiedlich mit der Mathematik ergangen ist, und denkbare Weisen des Umgehens mit diesen Prägungen im weiteren Lebenslauf.
