Abstract

At the present time, the researches that to do by the scholars at home and abroad about fluid-solid interaction (FSI) problem focus on numerical simulation. The accepted method is mostly arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method (ALE). On the contrary, the theoretical calculation on FSI has comparatively slow development. In this paper, the deflection due to bending of an elastic thin plate in continuous lateral flow of fluid are given using unitized Lagrangian-Eulerian method (ULE) and through couple theory. By specific example, the solutions from theoretical study and numerical simulation are compared, verifying the theoretical solution is confident. The researches are the foundation for the subsequent theoretical calculation and numerical simulation. It is the good foundation of seeking the answer to the FSI problem and the numerical calculation in engineering.
