Abstract

A suitable database is crucial for the development and application of uplift models. Thus, this chapter formulates data requirements of uplift modeling and suggests ways to make this data available. The retrieval and aggregation of data on the impact of historical (or analysis) treatments is explained. Moreover, it is shown that a bias associated with the choice of historical data has an impact on the development of uplift models. This chapter concludes with an analysis of suitable target and control group sizes as well as the adjustment of data by sampling in order to enable a model improvement.
