Abstract

As we have been discussing what should constitute a new sequence of courses for the first two-year curriculum, several questions arise as to the placing of topics from the areas of Introductory Probability/Statistics. 1. Should some topics from these areas be included in this new curriculum? 2. if so, the effectiveness as to how well they are taught is highly dependent on what topics outside of Probability/Statistics are included. Hence what are these topics? 3. if no topics from Probability/Statistics are included in this two-year curriculum, then what topics should be covered in the two-year curriculum to adequately prepare students to take a course in their third or fourth years.
