Abstract

This paper examines the influence of Free cash flow on investment choices and the long-term cash flow in organizations, with a specific emphasis on Iraqi enterprises. The objective is to investigate the link between free cash flows and firm sustainability and evaluate the impact of free cash flows on investors’ decision-making. This study is grounded on the yearly financial statements of a selected group of 10 Iraqi banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange. The analysis covers the time frame from 2016 to 2022. The Altman 2002 model was used to assess the ability of the study sample to forecast the company’s sustainability. In addition, the paper used the model of the value of shares exchanged for each firm during the year as a metric to assess financial success. The findings indicate that free cash flow does not impact investors’ decisions through the company's going concern, as the going concern does not act as an intermediary variable between free cash flow and investors’ decisions. The company’s concern is not collaborating with free cash flow to enhance investors’ decisions. This indicates that the independent variable, free cash flow, directly and statistically significantly impacts investors’ choices. Therefore, the company's going concern does not mediate the effect of free cash flow on investors’ choices. The impact of free cash flow on investors’ decisions is direct and not impacted by the company's going concern. This research examines the influence of Free cash flow on investment choices and the long-term cash flow in organizations, with a specific emphasis on Iraqi enterprises. The text examines the relationship between free cash flows and a company's sustainability while evaluating the impact of free cash flows on investors’ decision-making.
