Abstract

The study aims to diagnose the impact of intellectual capital in enhancing sustainable financial performance in Iraqi joint-stock industrial companies. The research used a quantitative study methodology, where primary data were collected from the official website of the Iraq Stock Exchange. A subset of 8 organizations were randomly selected from a population of 24 companies with complete data, and the data collection period extended from 2013 to 2022. This study used Pulic’s technique, specifically the Value-Added Intellectual Coefficient model, to assess the efficacy of intellectual capital in generating value inside firms and enhancing sustainable financial performance. The results show that the companies in the study sample have high intellectual capital and can outperform their competitors by providing unique solutions and achieving better customer satisfaction. The study emphasizes the importance of intellectual capital in enhancing the sustainability performance of industrial organizations in Iraq and provides practical insights to help these organizations improve their sustainability policies. It also presents a theoretical model that illustrates how intellectual capital can benefit sustainability performance and provides a framework for construction companies to use it strategically to achieve sustainable results. This article examines the possible influence of intellectual capital indicators on sustainable financial performance in Iraq’s banking industry. The research would gain from additional investigation into how the results regarding intellectual capital and sustainable performance in Iraqi banks align with analogous studies in other countries or regions, thereby offering a more comprehensive view of the impact of intellectual capital management on sustainable financial performance.
