Abstract

This conceptual study presents an integrated framework describing how environmental knowledge, attitude, consciousness, and awareness affect employee ecological behaviour (EEB) and well-being. The objective of the current study is to provide theoretical clarification and practical guidance to institutions with sustainability initiatives, which also include improving the employees’ quality of life in organisations. Using established theoretical frameworks such as the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), Self-Determination Theory (SDT), and Job Demands-Resources (JD-R), this paper proposes a comprehensive model that relates cognitive and affective environmental constructs to behavioural and psychological outcomes in organisational settings. The review demonstrates that environmental knowledge is a fundamental driving force for pro-environmental attitudes, awareness, and consciousness, which in turn foster EEB. EEB has been conceptualised as an environmental saving behaviour essential for life and psychological well-being. This study underscores the strategic significance of including ecological behaviour in managerial practice, contending that promoting EEB can simultaneously contribute to environmental goals and employee well-being, satisfaction, and engagement. The model is relevant to future prescriptive research and interventions concerning healthy and sustainable workplaces.
