Abstract

Algorithmic management (AM) promises efficiency yet often achieves it through intensified control that erodes the humanistic foundations of work and threatens organizational resilience. This integrative review addresses this tension by synthesizing a focused corpus of literature. Drawing on a targeted Scopus search of English-language, peer-reviewed journal articles at the intersection of AM, organizational resilience, and the Capability Approach (CA), we used theoretical sampling and iterative thematic coding to integrate representative scholarship. The analysis confirms the dual nature of AM, documents its effects on worker dignity, and outlines a pathway toward a more human-centric approach. Building on nascent connections between the CA and AM, the synthesis systematizes and extends this linkage, showing that CA offers a robust normative lens for addressing AM’s inherent tensions. It reframes AM systems not as instruments of control but as potential catalysts for resilient workplaces.
