Mental Health and STARA Integration for Educator Well-Being and Performance

Abstract

Mental health is essential for overall well-being, yet it frequently receives inadequate attention. Educators in Indonesia deal with increased workloads and expectations due to the pandemic, experiencing a rise in stress, anxiety, and burnout. This study aims to explore the relationship between mental health awareness and the understanding of smart technologies—including artificial intelligence, robotics, and algorithms (STARA) integration in their professional practice, and how this impacts their well-being and work performance. Data was gathered from 224 educators working in Indonesia through an online survey conducted between May and June 2025. The analysis was performed using PLS-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SMART-PLS software. The analysis conducted indicates that STARA has a significant effect on Mental Health. Mental Health has a significant impact on employee well-being. Moreover, employee well-being has a substantial effect on employee performance; however, mental health does not have a significant effect on employee performance. Given the strong influence of employee well-being on job performance, educational institutions in Indonesia should prioritize mental health support and proactive adaptation strategies to safeguard educator well-being and sustain performance amid technological change.
