Abstract

This paper examined the integration of traceability technologies in e-commerce and their impact on transparency and customer confidence in sustainable goods. Consumer trust depended more on the verification of sustainability promises as digital platforms pushed circular economy concepts. The study filled notable holes in the empirical validation of links between traceability technology, transparency, and customer trust in sustainable e-commerce. An online poll of 412 knowledgeable consumers about traceability technology gathered data. The measurement and structural models were examined using SmartPLS. Results verified that although transparency greatly affected customer trust, traceability technology favorably affected both transparency and consumer trust. Transparency was shown to be a partial mediator between traceability technology and customer trust, therefore offering a new understanding of the processes by which digital technologies support sustainable consumption. The results added to the theoretical knowledge of technology-enabled sustainability and provided practical consequences for e-commerce sites following circular economy ideas.
