Abstract

Objective: To put forward a sustainable management approach based on seven sources of Indian ethos, namely Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, Vedantic Approach, thoughts of Kautilya, Buddha and Gandhiji. Methodology: Being the study relates to ancient epics and classical thoughts, therefore hermeneutic methodology is used under which the selected seven sources of Indian Ethos are studied through four stages, namely Identification, Investigation, Analysis and Interpretation. Findings: It has been identified that the selected seven aspects of Indian ethos is an ample source of ethics through which business organisations can achieve sustainability. Further, it is observed that by implementing those ethos business can avoid the impact of evil and adverse factors and can gain social recognition and goodwill for sustainability. Conclusion: Ways of business sustainability can be adopted from selected seven sources of Indian ethos in different perspectives—Vision, Strategy, Leadership, Discipline, Trust, Equality, Motivation and Team spirit. Further, these perspectives are to be materialised by applying Triumvirate Indian ethical values—Satyam, Shivam and Sundaram in three stages of business operation—input, process and output towards business sustainability.
