Abstract

Sustainable development is a crucial global agenda, and businesses play a significant role in promoting sustainable economic growth, and business operations sustainability. Organizations adopt sustainable technologies, but the extent of their implementation and impact globally and in the United Arab Emirates remains unclear. This research investigates sustainable technology applications, emphasizing the UAE and its alignment with SDG9. It utilizes a qualitative research approach, involving primary and secondary data from interviews and case studies to examine organizations from various industries to assess the effectiveness of technologies in fostering sustainability and economic growth. The study analyses the impact of sustainable technology including IoT, blockchain, cloud computing, and data analytics on business functions, exploring opportunities, and challenges faced by business leaders and SMART governance frameworks to overcome them. The findings are valuable for policymakers, encouraging alignment with the SDGs through sustainable digital technologies leading to process automation, enhanced security, cost efficiency, reduced waste, long-term profitability, and optimized sustainability operations.
