Abstract

This work presents fundamental concepts and a detailed description related to the decision tree, which is essential for decision-making in research in the credit-granting field, and which is a practical tool for achieving financial people inclusion based on sociodemographic characteristics. In addition, a literature review focused on the topic is carried out to provide a complete decision tree process description applied to this financial field branch in Ecuador. With the quantitative methodology application, the decision tree process for deciding whether or not to grant individual credit is presented. This analysis allows us to contextualize the current research field current state and how this branch has evolved to become what it is today. It is suggested for future research to explore other variables to improve the decision tree model performance.
