Abstract

The circular economy (CE) offers a regenerative alternative to the linear model but still lacks robust theoretical and practical integration with eco- innovation, particularly in business ecosystems. This study examines the entrepreneurship sector of a Brazilian research institute, evaluating its ability to implement sustainable practices. Using the MATchE and Eco-Mi tools, it identifies systemic barriers and enablers in the transition to sustainable economic models. Findings highlight resource constraints, governance challenges, and gaps between expected and actual sustainability practices. Addressing these issues requires investment in digitalization, institutional policies, and collaboration with external stakeholders. This research provides a critical diagnosis of factors influencing CE and eco-innovation integration, offering insights to support a more sustainable economic transition.
