Can Green Supply Chain Management Address AU Agenda 2063 Goal Seven? A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

Global development initiatives, exemplified by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda 2030 and regional development strategies, notably the African Union’s Agenda 2063, play a critical role in promoting global innovation and the sustainable utilization of resources. Although they necessitate rigorous examination, these initiatives originate from a genuine commitment to instigate transformative change, particularly within the African context. This research investigates the way Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) contributes to the advancement of Agenda 2063, with a particular focus on Goal 7, which aspires to establish climate-resilient economies. Through a bibliometric analysis covering the period from 2014 to 2023, we pose the question: To what degree can green innovation in Africa serve as a catalyst for this transformation? The study contend that the alignment of political and intellectual endeavours is essential for the realization of Goal 7 and Sustainable Development Goal 16, emphasizing the objectives of these goals, the current limited critique, and the imperative for sustained commitment.
