An Appropriate Cross-Border Framework for Green and Sustainable Logistics

Abstract

The impact of cross-border strategy on green and sustainable logistics remains underexplored. Through a synthetic literature review, we develop a strategic framework tailored to cross-border green and sustainable logistics. Our findings reveal that policy and regulatory frameworks indirectly shape green logistics by influencing cross-border strategic choices. First, convergence in policy frameworks necessitates a uniform green logistics strategy, as international and global market dynamics intensify competitive pressures. Second, divergence in policy frameworks calls for differentiated approaches, with competition driven by multi-domestic considerations. Third, in hybrid policy environments, transporters adopt transnational strategies aimed at minimizing costs and maximizing revenue. This study offers both theoretical and practical contributions by proposing a model for cascading green logistics strategies in alignment with cross-border policy dynamics. Stakeholders can advance sustainable logistics practices by critically engaging with the structure and orientation of cross-border regulatory frameworks.
