Women in Industry 4.0 and 5.0: A Systematic Literature Review of Challenges, Opportunities, and Emerging Trends

Abstract

Although the rise of technologies related to Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 could open doors for greater female inclusion, significant barriers remain, such as gender stereotypes, wage inequality, and the low representation of women in technical fields and strategic positions. This paper aims to analyze female participation in Industries 4.0 and 5.0 through a systematic literature review using the PRISMA methodology. The key findings highlight the challenges, opportunities, and trends related to women in this context, aiming to promote greater inclusion and gender equity. Additionally, the study underscores the need for concrete actions, such as mentoring programs, digital training, and policies that ensure wage equity and greater diversity in the industrial sector. It also offers a critical perspective on the progress of Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5), which seeks gender equality.
