Abstract
Virgin plastic production exceeded 400 million tons in 2023, while recycling accounted for less than 9%. To address this challenge, several countries have adopted strategies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the European Green Pact. Sustainable innovation emerges as a key tool for economic growth, integrating environmental and social factors, although its conceptualization and evaluation vary. This research proposes an indicator for managing sustainable innovation based on entrepreneurial capabilities. Based on this approach, the Chilean plastics industry is analyzed as a case study, developing a taxonomy of business profiles according to their management of sustainable innovation.
