Abstract

The paper addresses the use of Internet of Things technologies to improve the performance of a hypothetical multi-service health centre. A simulation model is built to see the potential benefits of such technologies. The benefits are measured in terms of the average length of stay and average waiting time of the patients for four different services, namely vaccination, screening, sampling and consultation. The results indicate that among the tested technologies, only passive RFID would bring limited benefits.
