Abstract

Virtual avatars have a great potential to be used as teaching methods, which opens an opportunity to support the training system in companies. However, the success of this type of tools depends on several factors, from their appearance to the way they interact with users. This paper proposes a decision support model for the design of these avatars to improve their positive impact and acceptability to users. A model that complements the AHP and Dematel methods is carried out to identify importance and relationships between the factors that determine the acceptability of a virtual avatar. The results show that the avatar’s movements and face are two of the most relevant factors in the design, in addition, corporality influences the acceptability of the other factors.
