Agrivoltaics - A Component of the Modern Albanian Agriculture

Albania is a country with significant potential for renewable energy development, particularly in the solar sector. Agrivoltaics, the combination of agriculture and solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation on the same land, has emerged as a promising approach to maximize land use efficiency and promote sustainable development. The study investigates the technical, economic, and environmental aspects of agrivoltaics systems, considering factors such as optimal design, crop selection, and potential impacts on agricultural yields and biodiversity. Furthermore, the article analyzes the policy and regulatory framework in Albania, identifying opportunities and barriers for the adoption of agrivoltaics. The research aims to provide insights into the feasibility and viability of agrivoltaics in Albania, offering recommendations for stakeholders to promote its sustainable development and contribute to the country’s renewable energy goals. Currently, the best way to accomplish this goal is to implement smart agriculture, which refers to advanced farming management that utilizes innovative information and communication technologies—such as the Internet of things (IoT), big data, and the cloud—to automate processes, analyze operations, and monitor conditions. Smart agriculture helps farmers enhance the quality and quantity of their goods for optimal efficiency. The renewable resource of solar power is playing an increasingly prevalent role in the industry in order to address the issues threatening its longevity. In addition to sustainability, solar power also offers numerous additional benefits that have revolutionized the smart agriculture industry.
